NEWSLETTER FOR OCTOBER

October 10th, 2009
Welcome to our website!

While this is our maiden public appearance in the internet, M&A Resource Training Center started as a family enterprise since 1991 – at the time when there were very few consultancies engaged in training and development in Mindanao. In 1993, we registered it with DTI. We wanted to empower individuals, and organizations through our God-given gift of training people. But It never really took off, firstly, for lack of resources and technology and secondly, because non government organizations, and other business establishments, particularly small and medium-sized companies were not ready for it.

By and large, my sister and I continued to facilitate and conduct trainings either in our individual capacity or in the name of M&A while working in different organizations. Determined to pursue our goal, we held on to our vision. We continued to read books on human resource development, attended seminars and conferences here and abroad and shared ideas with fellow practitioners, traveled to other places to learn more, continued to validate training methodologies and polished our presentation skills, enriching ourselves in the process.

For the past 7 years, I had the privilege of facilitating with different types of audience, i.e. business establishments, companies, government agencies, foundations, academe, non government organizations and peoples’ organizations, etc., as the Training Director of MASS-SPECC’s Institute of Cooperative Studies. The experience also honed my skills in designing training courses and modules.

I have learned, among others, that training, like leadership, follows the same underlying principles whatever type of industry it is conducted. It is in the application, style, and dynamics that they differ, depending on the type of audience, degree of education, learning styles, etc. of the target participants. This is true even if the training landscape has drastically changed through the discovery of accelerated learning, multiple intelligences, adult learning principles and facilitating skills, and other training methodologies.

Today, more and more organizations are realizing the role of training and development as distinct and effective tool for individual and organizational growth. This is true in human resource management and human resource development where taking care of people (as the most important asset or resource) and growing them have taken the center stage.

The pioneers of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) have discovered a very important principle which applies to all organizations: “Continuous education, training and information”. Indeed, training and development is essentially dynamic and continuous.

As business and organization grow, it will invariably experience complacency, increased errors and injuries, loss of morale and less productivity and burn-out, strained relationship, increased in turn-over rate among key staff and employees, etc. When these happen, It is not wise to discontinue training our employees because of lack of funds, or because the employee would be hired by other companies.

Specifically, we want to cater to the development sector: cooperatives, non government organizations, non-profit organizations, people’s organizations, foundations, and communities, etc. We want to present ourselves as an outsourced local training provider familiar with the culture, language and dynamics in Mindanao. We want to make training fees affordable to small and medium-sized companies who otherwise, might not be able to obtain it due to expensive seminar rates in Manila and even Cebu cities. Yet, our training content, processes and methodologies are in keeping with global standards. My global HR Excellence Award in 2008 speaks for itself.

Speaking of trainings, M&A in partnership with SYNERGOS Resource Inc. will publish its Annual Training Calendar for 2010 on the last week of November 2009 so you can include them in your next year’s program of activities and budget.

Yes, we want to help your company and organization reach your personal and business goals thru training and development!
